AASU to Host Soul Food Luncheon for African-American History Month

Savannah, GA—January 21, 2005— Mayor Otis Johnson will speak about his experience as the first African American student at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) during its annual African American History Month Soul Food Luncheon. The luncheon will be held February 1 at noon in AASU’s University Hall room 156. Lunch will be provided in the form of a traditional soul food dinner. It is free and open to the public.

The Office of Minority Affairs (OMA) is hosting the luncheon. The OMA regularly brings programs to the campus in the areas of diversity, cultural competence, and minority education. The department also provides supportive services to ethnic minority students by encouraging participation in the life of the university and by advocating and supporting academic and personal success.
