Welcomes New Sororities
Savannah,
GAApril 21, 2004Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU)
announces the addition of two new sororitiesAlpha Sigma Tau and
Sigma Sigma Sigmato its campus. The new sororities are members of
the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), an organization that governs
26 national sororities.
Alpha Sigma Tau, founded at Michigan State Normal College in 1889 by eight
women, is dedicated to the progress of mankind as well as social service.
The third oldest educational sorority in the nation, Alpha Sigma Taus
numbers continue to increase and are now well into the thousands.
Sigma Sigma Sigma, founded at Virginias State Female Normal School
in 1898, encourages its members to form bonds of friendship between other
women and promotes high standards of conduct. Starting with just eight
members, their numbers have now grown to over 80,000.
