Renowned Historian to Lecture on South Africa, The Rainbow Nation


SAVANNAH, GA—September 23, 2003—Armstrong Atlantic State University will host the 2003-04 International Lecture Series with Christopher Saunders,visiting fellow of Du Bois Institute at Harvard University and professor of history at University of Cape Town, South Africa. Saunders will give a talk on Modern South Africa: The Transformation from Apartheid and the Challenges the "Rainbow Nation" Currently Faces, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on September 29. The event will be held in room 204 of Jenkins Auditorium.

Saunders is the author of a number of books, including The Making of the South African Past (Cape Town and New York, 1988), Historical Dictionary of South Africa (Metuchin, NJ, 1983 and 2000) and (with R.Davenport), South Africa A Modern History (5th ed. London, 2000), and many articles. His is the editor of a number of books, including Illustrated History of South Africa. For a full listing see www.lib.uct.a.za and enter the author's name.
