AASU to Host Latino Heritage Tour

SAVANNAH, GA—September 22, 2003—Hispanic and Latino inventors engineered the first submarine, helicopter, and the atomic bomb. The adjustable wrench, a reversible motor, an optical analysis system, and a system for color televisions were created by the minds and hands of Hispanic and Latino inventors.

The Latino Heritage Tour, Piensa Grande! (Think Big!) will be on the campus of Armstrong Atlantic State University on October 6. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Memorial College Center. The New York City based museum features over 100 artifacts, rare photos, biographies, and video documentaries.

“The exhibit is for everyone of all ages and ethnic groups, who are interested in developing a broader understanding of the Latino and Hispanic culture,” said Michael Snowden, director of Minority Affairs at Armstrong Atlantic.

The exhibit reveals many surprising facts about the contributions of Latinos in the fields of science, aerospace, communication, medicine, agriculture, transportation and engineering. It also presents the pioneers in politics, education, entertainment, sports, media, cinema, and literature.
