AASU to Host "Hip Hop Herstory" for African-American History Month

Savannah, GA— February 5, 2004—Armstrong Atlantic State University will host "Hip Hop Herstory," an interactive lecture by Roxanne Shante, on March 1 as part of African American History Month. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in room 156 of AASU’s University Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The Hip Hop Culture is now recognized by the United Nations as a culture. Shante will discuss how Hip Hop Culture began, where it is now, and the future of rap music and the Hip Hop Culture. She made her mark in rap music at the age of 14 and became one of the innovators that paved the way for future musicians. Shante has retired from Hip Hop, but she is still involved in the Hip Hop and urban community. As a lecturer, she addresses topics ranging from marketing strategies to radio advertising, and she covers the topics of love and relationships.
