Celebrate
AASU Day to be Held October 8

music, international foods, carnival rides and games, and free caricatures
will top off the eighth annual Celebrate AASU Day on October 8. The fall
festival will be held from 12 to 6:00 p.m.
in the academic quadrangle,
located at the center of campus. It is free and open to the public.
"Popular
with students, faculty, and staff, Celebrate AASU Day is one of the
most well attended events of the year," said Al Harris, director
of student activities. "The festival is held each fall to welcome
students back to school and to give members of the university community
a day to relax and enjoy themselves."
Savannah songsters Bucky and Barry will perform from
1:30 until 4 p.m. Other activities will include the Trampoline Thing,
the Giant Slide, the Bungee Run, the Rock Wall, and the Dunk the Professor
Booth. Free caracatures by Jeff Mandell will be available from 2
to p.m. The physical therapy department will offer free
neck massages.
At 1 p.m., Armstrong Atlantic and Memorial Health
University Medical Center (MHUMC) will host a ceremony to dedicate the
expansion of Compass Point and the new University Health Clinic. President Thomas Z. Jones and Robert A.
Colvin, president and CEO of MHUMC, will make presentations.
Free ice cream, Cokes, and hot dogs will be provided
by the university. Booths will sell for a minimal price an assortment
of foods: moon pies and RC Cola, brownies, egg rolls, chicken fingers,
smoothies, fruit salad, chili, pop corn, candy, nachos, cotton candy,
and boiled peanuts.
The
Office of International Education will host its fifteenth annual Study
Abroad Fair during the event.
Professors and loan specialists will be on hand to assist students who
are interested in having an experience of a lifetime.
