John A. Peters Memorial Scholarship Awarded to AASU Student

The 2001-2002 John A. Peters Memorial Scholarship (formerly the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia Scholarship) was awarded to Sophia Cooper, a freshman psychology major at Armstrong Atlantic State University. The scholarship provides full tuition for one academic year.

A reception was held on October 24 to honor Cooper, who was selected to receive the scholarship based on her outstanding academic credentials and her participation in the Honors Program at Armstrong Atlantic.

Thomas Z. Jones, president of Armstrong Atlantic, gave the opening remarks, while Fred B. Kitchens, executive director of the General Counsel for the Wine & Spirits of Georgia Foundation, presided over the award ceremony. Also participating in the presentation were Henry Monsees of Savannah Distributing Company, Joe Strickland of Georgia Crown Distributing Company, Michael Kooden of United Distributors, and state Representative Ann Mueller.
