AASU to Host International Festival Featuring teel Band April 3

SAVANNAH, GA–Armstrong Atlantic State University will present the world famous Grammy Award winning Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band as part of an international festival on April 3. The performance will be from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. on the academic quad. An international food tasting event will be held during the performance. The event is part of AASU's International Week and is free and open to the public.

The Steel Band from Port-of-Spain Trinidad will perform music ranging from classical to rock. Since 1942, the Steel Band has received numerous awards, including the Medal of Merit from former President Ronald Reagan and induction into the Motown Hall of Fame. The band has also toured with famous pianist Liberace which helped them to gain popularity and exposure in their field. Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band now tours extensively nine months of every year.

The event is sponsored by AASU's Office of International Education (OIE), which organizes study abroad and exchange programs in more than sixty countries in coordination with the University System of Georgia. This fall Armstrong Atlantic enrolled 215 students with international backgrounds representing sixty-five foreign countries. Visit OIE online at www.intl.armstrong.edu.
