Student Magazine Earns First Place Award(January 16, 2008) The 2007 issue of Armstrong Atlantic State University's student literature and art magazine, Calliope,, received a First Place with Special Merit award from the American Scholastic Press Association. The American Scholastic Press Association's national award is given annually to recognize the best high school and university publications in the country. Stephanie Roberts, who graduated in May 2007 with a major in English and a minor in gender and women's studies, served as editor of the 109-page publication. The 2007 edition of Calliope included 20 illustrations, 13 short fiction stories, and eight poems. In all, 21 students contributed to the publication. Christopher Baker, professor of English, serves as faculty advisor. Calliope is published annually by and for the students of Armstrong Atlantic State University. |
