Strauser Named Coordinator of Troops to Teachers ProgramSavannah, GA--October 5, 2005--The College of Education at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) has named Ed Strauser coordinator of Troops to Teachers, a program of study designed to bring prior, retired, and active military in southeastern Georgia into the teaching profession. Strauser joined Armstrong Atlantic in 1991 and has served as a professor in the department of middle/secondary and adult education for the Brunswick Center. In 2001-2002, Strauser took a leave of absence from AASU to teach high school full time for the Department of Defense at Leighton Barracks in Wuerzburg, Germany. Prior to joining AASU, Strauser taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He is certified to teach secondary math, general science, biology, and chemistry. He has kindergarten through twelfth grade certification in school psychology, health, and physical education, and also has teacher certification for preschool and the elementary grades. Strauser earned a bachelor's degree in biology from SUNY College at Fredonia in New York, a master's degree in science education from Canisius College in Buffalo, and a doctorate in educational psychology and human learning from University at Buffalo . Troops to Teachers is a collaboration among AASU's College of Education, the Army Education Center of the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. |
