Elderhostel: Adventures in Lifelong Learning (October 2007).

Savannah Elderhostel Among Top Favorites in the Country


(Savannah, GA, October 29, 2007) The Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) Elderhostel program has been named to the daily Top Ten list that tracks the most popular Elderhostel destinations in the country. In recognizing the popularity of the program, Elderhostel featured AASU's program on the cover of its October 2007 guide distributed throughout the United States and Canada. The 200-page publication lists information on programs from March through May 2008.

The Daily Top Ten list, maintained by Elderhostel, indicates programs with the highest enrollment in the preceding 24 hours. AASU's program has made the list on repeated occasions.

Elderhostel is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing learning adventures for people 55 and older. Programs are offered in all 50 states and in 90 countries.

The AASU Savannah Elderhostel offers four sites: historic district, midtown, Tybee Island, and Beaufort, SC. In all 1,478 visitors attended the program last year.

Diana Anderson is director of AASU's Elderhostel program. Sheila Meredith is assistant director.

Elderhostel offers in-depth and behind-the-scenes learning experiences for almost every interest and ability. Courses may focus on history, culture, nature, and music. Participants can undertake outdoor activities such as walking and biking, or practice crafts and enjoy study cruises.

Elderhoste's publication reaches some 425,000 readers in 8,000 Elderhostel programs across the country.
