Poet Sidney Wade at AASU April 4


(Savannah, GA-March 26, 2007) Poet Sidney Wade will read from her poems at 12:10 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, in the Science Center, room 1402, on the Armstrong Atlantic State University campus, 11935 Abercorn Street. The reading is free and open to the public.

Armstrong Atlantic's Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy will host Wade as part of the 2007 Visiting Writing Series.

Wade is the author of four collections of poetry: Celestial Bodies (Louisiana State University Press, 2002); Green (University of South Carolina Press, 1998); From Istanbul, published in Turkish and English (Yapi Kredi Yayinlari, Istanbul, 1998); and Empty Sleeves (University of Georgia Press, 1991). A fifth collection of poems, Stroke, is forthcoming from Persea Books.

She is the current president of the Associated Writers and Writing Programs, poetry editor for the literary journal Subtropics, and a professor of English at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
