Barbara Hamby

Poet Barbara Hamby to Host Reading


(February 13, 2008) The Poetry Society of Georgia 2007-2008 reading series continues with Barbara Hamby at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19 in the Memorial College Center Dining Hall on the AASU campus, 11935 Abercorn Street.

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Hamby's most recent collection of poems, Babel, won the 2003 Associated Writing Programs Donald Hall Prize for poetry. She was the winner of the 1994 Vassar Miller Prize, the Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and the Poetry Society of America's Norma Farber First Book Award.

Her poems have been chosen for inclusion in the Best American Poetry 2000, and the Pushcart Prize Anthology 2001. Her work has appeared in The Paris Review, The Southern Review, The Iowa Review, The Kenyon Review, The Yale Review, Plougshares, Five Points, The Harvard Review, TriQuarterly, and other publications.

Hamby is writer-in-residence at the creative writing program at Florida State University.
