Main Page Contact Francisco Duque, 912.961.3173 For Immediate Release Middle Grades Conference Coming November 2-3(Savannah, GA, October 17, 2007) The 10th annual Middle Grades Collaborative Regional Conference will be held Friday and Saturday, November 2-3 in Armstrong Atlantic State University's Armstrong Center, 13040 Abercorn Street. The topic for this year's conference is "Right in the Middle" and will feature keynote speaker Dr. Neila A. Connors, author of "If You Don't Feed the Teachers they Eat the Students (Kids' Stuff)." Connors is a nationally recognized author and speaker on middle level education who presents a menu for success for teachers. Friday's program, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include more than 20 breakout sessions, covering a variety of topics including the Georgia Performance Standards, middle school transition, and new rules for inclusive education. For the first time, this year's conference will include a symposium for parents and educators on Saturday, from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday's programs will include, among others, "Adolescents and the Media, "Adolescent Addiction and Health Issues," and "Tips to Help your Adolescent Learner." Designed for teachers, parents, and administrators in grades four through nine, each year the conference presents the best practices in education, the importance of standards, and the latest in school technology, classroom organization, and structure. Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) and Armstrong Atlantic State University's College of Education sponsor the conference. The fee for advance registration is $30 or $10 for AASU's College of Education majors. On-site registration is $40. Fees include materials, a continental breakfast, and lunch on Friday. SCCPSS educators may also submit their registration and check through the SCCPSS mail system. Registration deadline is October 29.
