MHSA Student Selected for Residency At Medical Center of Central Georgia

(May 12, 2008) Ferheen Ahmed, a May graduate from the Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) program at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU), has secured a post-graduate administrative residency with the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, beginning in June 2008.

The 12-month residency allows graduating students to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the MHSA program in the setting of the 600-bed academic medical center.

A native of Marietta, GA, Ahmed received an undergraduate degree in psychology from Kennesaw State University in 2006. Since her matriculation into the AASU program, she has completed a number of formal internships with various health services organizations in the Savannah area, including St. Joseph's/Candler and, most recently, the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion as a project manager.

She also participated as a member of the 2008 University of Alabama at Birmingham Health Administration Case Competition team representing AASU.

"Ferheen has done exceptionally well throughout her MHSA program, and will continue her excellent work at Medical Center of Central Georgia as their first-ever administrative resident-in-training," said Joey Crosby, AASU professor of health sciences and MHSA program coordinator.

"She is highly deserving of this honor and goes forward in the development of her career in the health services field with the deep admiration and respect of fellow students, program faculty, and administration," Crosby said.
