International Tango Star to Perform at AASU(Savannah, GA-November 7, 2006) International Tango star Katie Viqueira will perform her "Tierra Tango" song and dance show at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 16 in the ballroom of the Armstrong Center. The show is free and open to the public. Hailed as a "hot tango star" and an "accomplished singer" by the Boston Globe, Viqueira's first U.S. album, The Other Side, won acclaim from critics and the public. Viqueira is the winner of the 2005 World Music Award from Independent Music Awards and has received two OTI (Iberoamerican Television Organization) awards. She's also the recipient of the Hola Founders Award for best Latino theater production in 2004. Viqueira's style traces the musical roots of her native Buenos Aires in a contemporary setting. She has worked with some of Argentina's leading pop artists and international bands, and has performed live in radio and TV, and toured internationally. Armstrong Atlantic State University's Hispanic Outreach and Leadership (HOLA), the Cultural Affairs Commission, and the City of Savannah sponsor this event.
