Main Page Contact Francisco Duque, 912.961.3173 For Immediate Release Gender and Women's Studies Symposium Followed by Open House(Savannah, GA, November 27, 2007) The Gender and Women's Studies Program at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) will host a research symposium on "Historical Perspectives on the Victimization of Women in Religious Contexts," followed by an open house on Friday, November 30, starting at 3 p.m. in the Armstrong Center, 13040 Abercorn Street. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and learn about the Gender and Women's Studies program in an informal manner. The open house will immediately follow the research symposium. Refreshments and hot hors d' oeuvres will be served. The research symposium will present various perspectives on the victimization of women. The first paper, "Every Woman's Fear: Stories of Rape and Dutch Identity in the Golden Age," will be presented by Amanda Pipkin, assistant professor of history. Corie Hammers, assistant professor of sociology will offer a response. The second paper, "Moralizing the Marginalization of the Maiden and the Married Mata," will be presented by Jason Tatlock, assistant professor of history.
