Cosgrove Named Executive Director of GATE


Savannah, GA-October 28, 2005-Maryellen Cosgrove, department head of early childhood education at Armstrong Atlantic State University, was installed as executive director of the Georgia Association of Teacher Educators (GATE). Cosgrove was recently awarded a plaque from GATE in recognition of her commitment to teacher education in Georgia.

The mission of the GATE is to improve the effectiveness of teacher education through leadership in the development of quality programs to prepare teachers. The association analyzes issues and practices relating to professional development, and provides opportunities for the personal and professional growth of association members.

A member of the AASU faculty since 1989, Cosgrove is a member of the Association of Teacher Educators and has served as past president for the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators and GATE.
