(Savannah, GA, April 28, 2008) The College of Education at Armstrong Atlantic State University will host a reception to recognize nearly 50 alumni who have been named 2009 Teacher of the Year at their respective schools across the region. The reception will be held at 4 p.m., April 30, in the University Hall Atrium on the AASU campus, 11935 Abercorn Street.
The reception will honor Teacher of the Year graduates and introduce them to an emerging group of new teachers who will receive their diplomas from the College of Education during AASU commencement ceremonies on May 3.
"We are proud to recognize the outstanding contributions to the children in southeast Georgia made by Armstrong Atlantic State University alumni," said Leah Fiorentino, interim dean of the College of Education. "This is the second year that the College of Education has invited teacher of the year alumni to campus for a special celebration."
The AASU College of Education trains nearly 45 percent of the teachers who are named Teacher of the Year in Chatham County.
