Brower to Speak on "Understanding who is at Risk for Cancer"


Savannah, GA-March 13, 2006-Steven Brower, associate director of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at the Memorial Health University Medical Center, will give a presentation on "Understanding Who is at Risk for Cancer" on March 27. The lecture will begin at noon in room 156 of Armstrong Atlantic State University's (AASU) University Hall.

Brower's presentation will cover the important components of screening for the most common malignancies. He will review the environmental and hereditary risk factors for cancer and acquaint the public with the research being conducted at the Anderson Cancer Institute.

Brower is one of Georgia Cancer Coalition's Distinguished Cancer Clinicians and Scientists. He has received many awards and honors including the E.W. Friedman Endowed Professor of Surgical Oncology award for the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He also serves on the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Association of Cancer Research.
