Armstrong Atlantic Alumni Association Elects Officers(Savannah, GA, June 6, 2007) The Armstrong Atlantic State University Alumni Association announces the election of officers Spence Hoynes as president; Kevin Fitzmaurice as president-elect; Sandra Jones as vice president; Christina Gibson as treasurer/recording secretary; and Patty Parker as corresponding secretary. The new officers, elected during the associations annual meeting, will serve during the 2007-2008 academic year. Spence Hoynes, now retired, is a former assistant commissioner for the Georgia Department of Labor. He graduated from Armstrong State College in 1970 with a degree in business administration management and marketing. He and his wife Sheila '75 (M.Ed.) live at Lake Oconee. Kevin Fitzmaurice is a material analyst for Georgia Power, where he has worked for the last 22 years. He graduated from Armstrong Atlantic in 1999 and 2002 with an associate of arts degree and a bachelor's in computer science. He holds an associate degree in engineering from Trident Technical College. Fitzmaurice serves as vice president of the Board of Trustees for the Trident Technical College Alumni Association and is president of the Culinary Arts Advisory Committee for Savannah Technical College. Recently he served as treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Savannah Swim Team (SST) and vice president of the Board of Directors for Saint James Catholic School. Fitzmaurice, his wife, and daughter are members of Saint James Catholic Church. Sandra Jones is the benefits administrator for the City of Savannah's Human Resources Department. She graduated from Armstrong State College in 1964 and Armstrong Atlantic State University in 1998. Cristina Gibson is director of health promotion and diseases prevention at the Coastal Health District. She graduated from Armstrong Atlantic in 2001 with a masters in public health. She is an adjunct professor in AASU's Health Sciences Department. Gibson serves on the African‑American Health Information Resource Center advisory board and the Amerigroup Community Care's Health Education advisory board. She is a member of the AASU Master's in Public Health advisory committee and the Georgia Public Health Association advisory committee. She volunteers with the Union Mission in Savannah. Patty Parker, director of alumni relations at Armstrong Atlantic, will remain in her position as corresponding secretary for the Alumni Association. |
