(April 29, 2009) Armstrong Atlantic State University will offer a semester abroad program in Siena, Italy in the fall of 2009. The seven-week program is open to all college students interested in completing up to a full-semester course load. Core curriculum and upper level courses are available. The program will run from August 24 through October 10.
Up to 10 college courses in the humanities, arts, economics, philosophy, history and European Union studies are available. The program includes optional excursions to Rome, Florence and the Italian Riviera. All scholarships and financial aid that students qualify for during the 2009 fall semester can be applied toward the program. In addition, as a legitimate academic expense, the cost of the program can be calculated into the students eligibility for financial aid, allowing greater potential for need-based programs.
The cost per student of $5,520 includes access to library, self-study center, Internet fees, local tours and services provided by the Dante Alighieri Institute, which promotes Italian culture and language worldwide. AASU has associated with the institute for more than five years. Also included is housing, based on double-occupancy rooms in shared student apartments with shared bathrooms and kitchen facilities.
Airfare, travel to and from the Siena airport, optional excursions, meals and fall tuition are not included. Students enrolling for Siena-based courses only are not required to pay on-campus fees.
