AASU to Offer OSHA Compliance Training

(July 31, 2008) Armstrong Atlantic State University will begin offering specialized training for regional employers seeking to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety compliance and regulations.

The university is establishing the Center for Safety, Health, and Environmental Training at the Armstrong Center for Professional and Continuing Education located at 13040 Abercorn Street. The first course will begin on September 2.

Courses will be offered on-site and also at work sites throughout the region. Among the courses scheduled are basic safety, disaster site worker construction, and safety management.

"The Center for Safety, Health, and Environmental Training will make it easier for regional employers to obtain OSHA compliance training for their safety officers and other employees," said Wynn Sullivan, director of the Armstrong Center for Professional and Continuing Education.

The university is partnering with James F. White, a retired U.S. Department of Labor OSHA compliance safety and health officer. White is a certified safety executive and registered professional industrial hygienist. He is a consultant on safety and industrial hygiene and provides training for general industry and construction employers.
