AASU to Host Conference on the Americas, February 10-11


Savannah, GA—February 7, 2006—Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) will host the ninth annual Conference on the Americas, February 10-11. Over forty-five panel sessions will be held during the two-day conference.

The conference begins at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, February 10, and concludes at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 11. All sessions will be held on the first floor of Solms Hall at AASU. The conference fee is $35.

The keynote speakers, Julio Parada and Elvis Campos, are from the University of La Serena in Chile. Parada will speak on "New Gender Issues in Chile: Dealing with the Election of Chile's First Female President." Campos will present "A Look at Chilean Culture Through the Music of Violeta Parra." Parra is one of the best known Chilean folk singers. Other international speakers are from Mexico, Brazil, and Ecuador.
