AASU to Host Savannah-Ogeechee Regional Science and Engineering Fair

[Editors Note: The best time for video is from 11-12 on Wednesday.]

Savannah, GA—February, 3, 2006—Students representing 32 schools in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Evans, and Toombs counties will compete in the Savannah-Ogeechee Regional Science and Engineering Fair held at Armstrong Atlantic State University on February 16. A total of 215 students will participate in the fair—a 42% increase from last year. The fair will be open to the public at 6 p.m., and will conclude with an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. in AASU's Sports Center.

The regional fair provides a forum for learning that helps students solve problems using organized and logical thought processes. The competition encourages students to explore and investigate their world through hands-on research. Project categories include botany, computer science, and engineering.

Awards for excellence will be presented to the students who submit the best projects. Forty-five to fifty students will go on to represent the region at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair in Athens. Two students will be selected to attend the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
