(June 11, 2009) The Educational Technology Center (ETC) at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) will sponsor a series of creative computer camps this summer for children ages nine to 14. Each of the six camps has a specific theme and is grouped by age.
All sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in the technology center, room 128 of University Hall, on the AASU campus, 11935 Abercorn Street. All instructors are middle grades certified. The cost is $195 per week. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided, but campers should bring their own lunch.
The themed camps are:
"Cool Tools for Kids!" for 9 to 11-year-olds; June 15-19. Campers will learn how to create podcasts, Web sites, animation and digital stories.
"Let the Games Begin!" for boys only ages 11-13. This camp will teach how to create 3D animation and games. Three sessions will be offered June 22-26, July 13-17 and July 27-31.
"Hooray for Hollywood!" will allow campers to create their own digital movies. It is open to students ages 9-11; July 6-10.
"C.S.I." (Computer Sleuth Investigations) will have campers learning to solve mysteries using digital tools. It is available to campers ages 11-13; July 20-24.
"Oh, the Places Youll Go!" will teach how to create virtual worlds with Google Sketchup. It is being offered to campers ages 9-11; August 3-7.
"Girls Just Wanna Create" will instruct the skills needed to create 3D digital stories. It is open to girls only, ages 11-13; August 10-14.
