Ethnic minorities make up about 34 percent of AASU's enrollment of more than 6,700 students. MACAS recognizes students who have earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better during the current academic year. Awards for this event fall into three categories, depending on how high a student's grade point average is. The highest level, the Academic Excellence Award, recognizes those who have achieved a grade point average of 4.0. The Academic Achievement Award honors those who have a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.99, and the Academic Honor Award recognizes those with an average of 3.0 or better.
