AASU Invites Participation in Savannah Reads Selzer, April 3-6

Savannah, GA—March 1, 2006—Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) will host its third annual city-wide read, "Savannah Reads Selzer," April 3-6. This year, the community will read and discuss the book, Mortal Lessons: Notes on the Art of Surgery, a collection of essays by former surgeon and author Richard Selzer.

Members of the Savannah community are encouraged to purchase and begin reading the book in advance of the April discussion and events. Participants can purchase Selzer's book at Barnes & Noble and E. Shaver Bookseller.

Regional book clubs and other community organizations may also participate in the read by hosting discussions throughout the city during April. Participants so far include Barnes & Noble, Sentient Bean, and the Live Oak Public Libraries.

Sponsors for the community read are Memorial Health University Medical Center, The Gilmer Lecture Series, and the Savannah Morning News.

The read will include a series of events at AASU, including a presentation by Dr. Selzer, and several related events that will be held in the community.

For more details or to host a community discussion, contact Beth Howells at 912.927.5218. For a listing of events, visit www.faculty.armstrong.edu/read.htm.
