AASU Earns Four State Awards

(Savannah, GA, October 31, 2007) Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) has received four Gold Awards for publications and advertising from the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSPRA). All of the award-winning materials were produced in the Office of University Relations.

A Gold Award for newsletters went to AASU's Compass. The alumni and community publication is written and edited by Barry J. Ostrow, designed by Joan Lehon, and photographed by Katherine Arntzen. Francisco Duque is a contributing writer.

A recruiting view book received a Gold Award in its category. Melanie Mirande and Joseph Crain, formerly in the Office of Recruiting, wrote the view book. It was designed by Anna de la Paz and photographed by Arntzen.

A spring 2007 print and billboard advertising campaign, "Just Think What We Can Do Together," garnered a Gold Award for Ostrow, Lehon, and Arntzen.

Ostrow received the fourth Gold Award for excellence in writing for his article in the Winter 2007 issue of Compass, "A Giant in our Midst." The story traced the story of K.C. Wu from governor of Taiwan to a beloved professor of Chinese history at Armstrong Atlantic.

The GSPRA is a professional organization for school communicators and school-community relations specialists. The organization is an affiliate of the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) and has been designated a Blue Ribbon Chapter of NSPRA for the past twenty-four years.
