3 Days for AASU Kickoff is March 31

(March 16, 2009) Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) and the AASU Foundation will kickoff its annual 3 Days for AASU campaign on March 31. Mike Kemp, vice president of Synovus Trust Co. and Ann Purcell, of Radiation Therapy Associates, are serving as co-chairs.

Now in its sixth year, 3 Days for AASU raises funds from businesses throughout the region to support academic scholarships and critical university programs.

"As a state institution, Armstrong Atlantic State University is being asked to make more out of less," said Kemp. "Employers need to support the great things that Armstrong Atlantic does. The university has a highly competitive nursing program, a dual degree program in engineering with Georgia Tech Savannah and nationally recognized athletes."

The university's College of Education, College of Health Professions, College Liberal Arts and College of Science and Technology enroll some 7,000 students, with more than 800 students residing in on-campus housing. The university will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2010.

"Armstrong Atlantic has a long-standing tradition of providing a quality and valued education to students who work in needed professions: education, health care, the arts and sciences," said Purcell. "In this challenging economy, more and more people will look to Armstrong to help them improve theirs skills or pursue a new career."

"With the support of businesses, Armstrong Atlantic will continue to produce quality, educated employees who support the economic growth and the health of our communities," Kemp said.

Gifts of all amounts are meaningful and are tax deductible. Pledges made now can be paid through December 2009.
