AASU to Host Basketball Game to Raise Funds for Scholarship Program

Savannah, GA—October 1, 2003—Armstrong Atlantic State University will sponsor a basketball game on October 23 to raise funds for The William J. Smith Scholarship Fund for respiratory therapy students. The game will begin at 7 p.m. in the university's Alumni Arena. A team of AASU faculty, staff, students, and alumni will play a team from Cumulus Broadcasting.

Tickets can be purchased through AASU's respiratory therapy department by calling 912.927.5204. Tickets are $5 for adults; children under 12 years of age may attend at no charge.

Armstrong Atlantic will present the first William J. Smith Scholarship in the amount of $500 during half time. There also will be door prizes, contests, and raffle tickets will be available for purchase in the lobby. A concession stand will be open offering hot dogs, popcorn and sodas. All profits will go to the scholarship fund.

The game is being sponsored in recognition of National Respiratory Therapy Week and the twenty-fifth anniversary of AASU's Department of Respiratory Therapy. A reception will be held October 23 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m under the breezeway at Ashmore Hall. Creative Catering will provide the food and drinks. All alumni of the AASU Respiratory Therapy program are invited to attend. Those who are interested in attending should R.S.V.P. by calling 912.927.5204.
