100% of AASU’s Medical Technology Graduates Pass National Exam

Savannah, GA–-April 28, 2004—One-hundred percent of the 2003 graduates of the Medical Technology program at Armstrong Atlantic State University successfully completed the national American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification examination. This is the second year in a row that the entire graduating medical technology class has passed the examination.

All twelve graduates passed the exam with a 533 mean score (the national average pass rate was 75 percent with a 476 mean score). The graduates also scored higher in all seven categories of the exam than the university-based graduates.

The ASCP is an independent certification agency, which assures the competence of medical laboratory personnel in the nation. Its mission is to promote the public health and safety by the appropriate application of pathology and laboratory medicine and enhance the quality of pathology and laboratory medicine by developing comprehensive educational programs and materials.
