Savannah, GAThe 2003 graduates of the Dental Hygiene program
at Armstrong Atlantic State University successfully completed the
Southern Regional Testing Agency (SRTA) Board Examination with a one-hundred
percent pass rate for the second consecutive year. The twenty-five
graduates also passed the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination
with a one-hundred percent pass rate for the second consecutive year.
The SRTA examinations have been developed, and are administered and
reviewed in accordance with guidelines from the American Dental Association,
the American Association of Dental Examiners, the American Psychological
Association, the American Educational Research Association and the
national Council on Measurement in Education. The examinations were
developed to provide a reliable clinical assessment for use by state
boards in making valid licensing decisions.
AASUs Dental Hygiene Program provides students with a high quality
academic and professional environment allowing for the development
of their intellectual and manipulative competencies and attainment
of professional values and characteristics. Inherent to this purpose
is the goal to prepare a graduate with competent clinical skills,
effective communication skills, and the ability to provide comprehensive
dental hygiene patient care.
