AASU Medical Technology Professor Publishes Book

Savannah, GA—December 10, 2003—Hassan Aziz, assistant professor of medical technology at Armstrong Atlantic State University, recently had his book, "Principles of Clinical Laboratory Management," published by Prentice Hall. The book was a collaborative work completed by Aziz and several other nationally recognized laboratory professionals. It provides a complete overview of the financial, personnel, operational, and marketing issues that affect the clinical laboratory professional.

Aziz received his doctorate degree in science education with an emphasis in medical technology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2000. In 1994, he earned his master's degree in medical technology from the same institution. He became a certified medical technologist in 1990 after the completion of a bachelor of science degree in medical technology from Kuwait University and passing the National Certification Exam for Medical Laboratory Personnel.

Prior to entering the academic field, Aziz was the clinical laboratory director of an urban hospital for several years. He has written for various publications at both the regional and the national levels. Aziz is a member of many professional organizations including the Clinical Laboratory Management Association, American Association of Clinical Laboratory Science, Georgia Society of Clinical Laboratory Science, Mississippi Academy of Science, and Sigma XI.
