AASU Physical Therapy Professor
Receives Professional Recognition

Savannah, GA—July 14, 2004— David A. Lake, head of the Physical Therapy Department at Armstrong Atlantic State University, was selected this past month as an outstanding alumnus from the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He also was appointed to the Coalition for Allied Health Leadership, one of only ten people nationally from the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions. Most recently, Lake was elected to the nominating committee of the American Physical Therapy Association. As a member of the nominating committee, Lake will assist in the development of leaders for the national office.

Prior to founding the physical therapy program at AASU, Lake chaired the largest physical therapy education program in the country at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He has been a leader in the physical therapy profession for 18 years having served on the board of directors of three components of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Lake has published several articles in professional journals and has spoken at national and international meetings on such topics as therapeutic modalities, exercise protocols, and instructional innovations.
