Savannah, GAThe 2003 graduates of Armstrong Atlantic State University's
Dental Hygiene program successfully completed the National Board Dental
Hygiene Examination. All twenty-five graduates passed the exam giving
the department a one-hundred percent pass rate for the second consecutive
year.
The purpose of the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination is to
assist state boards in determining qualifications of dental hygienists
who seek licensure to practice dental hygiene. The examination assesses
the ability to understand important information from basic biomedical,
dental, and dental hygiene sciences and to apply such information
in a problem-solving context.
AASUs Dental Hygiene Program provides students with a high quality
academic and professional environment allowing for the development
of their intellectual and manipulative competencies and attainment
of professional values and characteristics.The program's goal is to
prepare graduates with competent clinical skills, effective communication
skills, and the ability to provide comprehensive dental hygiene patient
care.
