AASU
Presents Rehabilitative Tricycle SAVANNAH, GAThe Respiratory Club
at Armstrong Atlantic State University will present an AmTryke tricycle
to Austin Cox, a six-year-old child from Brunswick who is recovering
from a stroke. The presentation will take place at 12:30 P.M.
on December 6 on the patio of AASU's University Hall. Austin was evaluated
for the bike at the Pediatric Rehab Center at Backus Children's Hospital. The AmTryke tricycle, powered by using the arms and legs, can improve the balance, coordination, and self confidence of wheelchair bound children. As children ride the bike, there is a good chance their leg muscles will strengthen and their chances of walking. Patients who can benefit from the bike are contacted by the Savannah AMBUCs who arrange funding for the AmTryke. The respiratory club has participated in several fundraisers for the AmTryke program over the past year. For additional information, contact
