AASU Marks Twentieth Anniversary of Nursing Baccalaureate
Savannah,
GAA century of American health care and the last twenty years of nursing
at Armstrong Atlantic State University will be on display in the Department
of Nursing on October 8. The exhibit is part of the university's celebration
of the twentieth year of the baccalaureate nursing program. The celebration
will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M.
on the second floor of AASUs Ashmore Hall.
Carol
Massey, an associate professor and twenty-seven year veteran of the AASU nursing
program, observed, Todays nursing students tend to be older, more
motivated, and many are choosing nursing as a second career. They are now
studying more contemporary issues such as
end of life concerns for people of all ages.
An open house will be held as part of the celebration to help establish a
nursing alumni association at AASU. All graduates of the departments
associate, baccalaureate, and masters programs have been invited. Participants
will be greeted by both current and retired faculty members.
The purpose of the alumni association is to create a lasting bond between
the nursing graduates and the Department of Nursing," said Camille Stern,
head of the Department of Nursing. "It will give alumni more opportunities
to interact with the school and with future students.
