AASU's Marion Royer Named Staff Member of the Year

Savannah, GA—May 10, 2004—Marion Royer, senior accounting assistant at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU), is known for her professionalism, integrity, and dedication to her job and the university. It is for this reason that the faculty and staff selected her as the 2004 Staff Member of the Year. The award is given annually to recognize full-time hourly staff members for their valuable contributions to the university.

Virtually all of the money received by the university—more than $50 million annually from student payments and grants to petty cash, wire transfers, and credit card payments—is handled by Royer. She not only keeps track of the money coming into the university, but also goes out of her way to do everything possible to meet the needs of the students.

"With her dedication, positive attitude, and solid work ethic, Marion is indispensable to our operation," said Dan Harrell, director of financial services at AASU. "When she retires we will probably have to hire two people to replace her."

Royer joined AASU in 1992, after working for several financial organizations, including First Atlanta Corporation and Merritt & Company.
