AASU's Leaver to Lecture on Robert Gabriel Mugabe


Savannah, GA--— January 7, 2004—David Leaver, assistant professor of history at Armstrong Atlantic State University, will give a lecture on " Robert Gabriel Mugabe: Liberation Leader and Reconciler of Racial Conflict or Homophobic Tyrant and Pontificator while Zimbabweans Starve" as part of the Robert Ingram Strozier Faculty Lecture Series on January 23. The lecture will begin at 12:15 p.m. in University Hall room 156. It is free and open to the public.

Leaver will examine the life of Zimbabwean president Robert Gabriel Mugabe. He will focus on the changes that Mugabe has personally undergone serving as the country’s president, as well as how he has shaped the Zimbabwean experience. Leaver will make additional observations about the challenges of governance in contemporary Africa, using Zimbabwe as a case study.
