Hampton to Lecture on Piano Music by African-American Composers

Savannah, GA—September 10, 2003—Kevin Hampton, assistant professor of art, music, and theatre at Armstrong Atlantic State University, will give a lecture on Piano Music by African-American Composers as part of the Robert Ingram Strozier Faculty Lecture Series on September 26. The lecture will begin at 12:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Current scholarship and recent recordings have begun to shed light upon the large body of music penned by African-American composers. Hampton will introduce the music of some of the most noteworthy composers through biographical sketches and live performances of their works.
