AASU's Burge to Lecture on Pervasive Computing

Savannah, GA—October 22, 2003—In the last two years the market for handheld and ubiquitous computing and Personal Digital Assistants has grown at a compound annual rate of thirty percent. This rapid growth has resulted in a field with few experts, little teaching material, and tremendous demand for trained professionals.

Mark Burge, associate professor of computer science at Armstrong Atlantic State University, will give a lecture on “Pervasive Computing” as part of the Robert Ingram Strozier Faculty Lecture Series on November 7. The lecture will begin at 12:15 p.m. in Room 156 University Hall. It is free and open to the public.

Burge received a National Science Foundation grant to develop curriculum materials to prepare students for careers in the pervasive computing field. He presentation will focus on the results of this grant and will feature games written by students and a live demonstration of a new generation of networked handheld gaming.
