SAVANNAH, GA–Dr. Thomas C. Meredith, chancellor of the University System of Georgia (USG), will be the invited speaker during Armstrong Atlantic State University's personnel meeting on April 25. More than fifty individuals will be honored for outstanding performance, retirement, or reaching milestones in their years of service. The annual Staff Member of the Year Award also will be presented. The meeting will begin at 12:15 P.M. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

As chancellor of the USG, Meredith is responsible for the state's thirty-four public colleges and universities. The university system has more than 232,000 students, 35,000 faculty and staff, and an annual budget of $4.5 billion. Since taking office in January 2002, Meredith has managed several tough state budget cuts, secured approval from the Board of Regents for the system's new long-term strategic plan, toured all USG campuses, and conducted a twelve-stop economic-development tour of the state.
