AASU Names Jeannie Gilreath-Barron "Staff Member of the Year"
Savannah, GAJeannie Gilreath-Barron, an administrative assistant in the registrar and admissions office at Armstrong Atlantic State University, was named "Staff Member of the Year" during the university's year-end awards ceremony for faculty and staff. Thomas Z. Jones, president of AASU, presented a plaque to Gilbreath-Barron to recognize her as the exemplary staff member for the 2001-02 academic year.
"Jeannie exemplifies the AASU spirit by constantly striving to serve our students," said Jones. "She is known for her professionalism, integrity, and dedication to her job."
Gilreath-Barron began working for Armstrong Atlantic in 1990 as a recorder and in 1993 was promoted to her current position of administrative assistant. She advises students at the Liberty Center at Ft. Stewart who are unable to visit AASUs campus, monitors the Regents Test scores to ensure student compliance, and actively participates in CHAOS, the university's orientation program. Gilreath-Barron also works closely with students in the Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Program to ensure the program requirements are met.
