Cosgrove Named President of SRATE

Savannah, GA—December 11, 2003—Maryellen Cosgrove, department head of Early Childhood Education at Armstrong Atlantic State University, was installed as president of Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators (SRATE) during the fall conference in Savannah. SRATE provides teacher educators with opportunities to increase their knowledge and understanding of the complex processes involved in preparing teachers for the classroom.

Cosgrove, interim department head of middle, secondary and adult education, has been with AASU since 1989. She is the immediate past president of the Georgia Association of Teacher Educators (GATE). Cosgrove was recently awarded a plaque from GATE in recognition of her commitment to teacher education in Georgia. Organized in 1953, SRATE has P-12, college and university members from 15 states and is affiliated with the National Association of Teacher Educators.
