WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD: AASU to Present School Nurse of the Year Award April 18
Savannah, GAThe "School Nurse of the Year Award" will be presented on April 18 as part of Armstrong Atlantic State University's eleventh annual Week of the Young Child Conference, "Literacy and the Young Child." Barry Eckert, dean of AASU's College of Health Professions, will make the award presentation at 3:00 P.M. in room 156 of AASU's University Hall. The presentation will conclude a day of more than fifteen conference workshops on literacy and early learning programs for children.
Nominees were submitted by superintendents, principals, parents, and teachers from Chatham and surrounding counties. Criteria considered included a nursing license (LPN or RN) and a strong history of exceptional involvement in one of the following areas: child advocacy/care; creative program planning and implementation; political and legislative activities; community involvement/volunteerism, and/or research.
AASU is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the largest organization of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of early education programs for children from birth through age eight. AASU' s College of Education and College of Health Professions are sponsoring the event.
