WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD: AASU to Hold Children's Health Fair April 19
Savannah, GAMore than 300 second graders from four local elementary schools: Bartow, Gadsden, Southwest, and Charles Ellis Montessori Academy, will participate in Armstrong Atlantic State University's Health Fair for Children on April 19. The fair is being held as part of the university's eleventh annual Week of the Young Child Conference, "Literacy and the Young Child." The children will arrive at 9:30 A.M. and will leave by 1:15 P.M. The fair will be held in the AASU Sports Arena.
Twenty community organizations from greater savannah and the AASU nursing department will present exhibits, educational activities, and interactive programs to promote the health, safety, and positive development of children ages five to eight. Students will participate in various creative health and safety-related activities that will last about five minutes each.
AASU is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the largest organization of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of early education programs for children from birth through age eight. AASU' s College of Education and College of Health Professions are sponsoring the event.
