AASU Names Winners of Computer Science Quiz Bowl

Savannah, GA—January 12, 2004—Armstrong Atlantic State University hosted a Computer Science Quiz Bowl on November 15 for high schools in the region. The top three teams and the individual with the best overall score received awards during a concluding ceremony.

Brunswick High School sent two teams that took both the first and second-place prizes. The team that took first place consisted of Davis Kendrick, Zack Williams, and Chris Putnam. Royce Colvin, Bobby Edwards, and Grant Valdes made up the team that took second place. Glynn Academy sent a team, consisting of Tony Yu, Aaron Hoy, and Richard Prescott, that finished in third place. Hoy took the award for the best individual score.

The competitors answered questions on computer science and information technology topics. The winners received trophies and plaques for school display cases during the awards ceremony. All students received a certificate of participation and a free event T-shirt that was popular with students.

Sponsors of the quiz bowl included the Association of Computing Machinery, Cumulus Broadcasting, IBM, Levy's Jewelers, Microsoft, and Papa John's Pizza.
