Fifth Edition of AASU Professor’s Java Textbook to be Published

Savannah, GA—August 2, 2004— The fifth edition of Introduction to Java Programming will be published in October by Prentice Hall. The book is authored by Y. Daniel Liang, a professor in the School of Computing at Armstrong Atlantic State University.

Liang has written 15 Java computing texts in the Prentice Hall Liang Java Series. His books have been used around the world and translated into Korean and Chinese. Five universities in Georgia use Introduction to Java Programming as part of their computing curriculum.

Liang holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computing from Fudan University in his native China and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to coming to Armstrong Atlantic, he was an associate professor at Purdue University. Liang has published numerous papers in international journals. He has consulted in the areas of algorithm design, client/server computing, and database management.
