AASU Professor Receives Honorary Doctorate from Tallinn Pedagogical University

Savannah, GA—January 18, 2005—Tallinn Pedagogical University (TPU), located in Tallinn, Estonia, recently bestowed an honorary doctorate degree upon Olavi Arens, professor of history at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU). The degree was awarded in recognition of Arens' record of scholarship and professional accomplishments.

A noted scholar and teacher, Arens has devoted his professional career to providing high quality educational services to his students and colleagues. Among the reasons cited for the award were Arens' professional activities in furthering exchanges between AASU and TPU. TPU has hosted a Maymester study abroad program for Armstrong Atlantic, and the English departments have also collaborated on scholarly publication projects and conferences.

Arens earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
